We work hard to develop good relationships with trusted UK suppliers to source high grade essential oils and extracts through them from across Britain and indeed the world that uphold our ’clean and green’ philosophy. For example, as a certified Ecocert natural beauty brand we only source essential oils that are extracted through non-solvent methods We also work closely with our suppliers to source ingredients that match our clean credentials, for example we have recently been working with one of our British suppliers to develop an organic benzoin resin essential oil from Cambodia for our best-selling hand cream.
We support British essential oil and extract suppliers and try to support small British companies in developing our packaging and design. In addition we create, manufacture, pack and distribute Balance Me from the UK.
We believe that we help to save our planet but only using clean and natural ingredients. We don’t use harsh chemicals in our blends (as we believe these should not be put on skin and in turn into the world’s water systems), we don’t use essential oils or extracts that are in limited world supply e.g. sandalwood; we don’t over package and will not suggest several products when only one will do; our products are packaged in generous portions (ml/fl oz) and are very rich meaning that a little goes a long way so they last longer.
We have now developed bespoke PP bags that are recyclable for our travel and wash sets. When we use outer packaging, e.g. gift boxes, we make sure that they are collectable (and great quality) to encourage customers to re-use them e.g. to store buttons, cards etc. We believe there are times when continued use/alternative use is more beneficial to the planet than actually re-cycling as it uses less energy!
We use FSC card or equivalent for our oil /balm boxes and literature. (We only outer box these to prevent tampering).
Our white oil bottles are 25% PCR (recycle plastic) – we have been advised at present that a higher % may pose a risk due to potential erosion of packaging. We believe 25% is already on the way to saving the planet and we regularly review our materials and strive for the cleanest and greenest that we can achieve, without compromising customer safety. Our washes and creams are packaged in HDPE bottles and our tubs are PP.
